A Little History on Tod's Shoes for Men

J.P. Tod's heritage dates back to Dorio Della Valle who founded the Milan based shoe business in the 1940's after beginning work as a cobbler's assistant at the age 9. His son Diego Della Valle joined the family business in the late 1970's where he eventually turned his father's shoe business into a global accessories giant with over 39 boutiques worldwide and annual sales of more than $200 million. In 1979, he randomly chose the name J.P. Tod's because it was easy to pronounce in any language. Today, most in the know just call it Tod's. Tod's is most famous for their luxurious pebble-sole driving mocs which are an updated version of a shoe italian racers wore in the 1950s. Their footwear is popular among royalty and celebrities and Tod's have been seen on the likes of Harrison Ford, Pierce Brosnan and Denzel Washington. As a matter of fact, their 7500 sq. ft. beverly hills store has a VIP room for celebrities to shop in private. Diego Della Valle believes quality can never be sacrificed when creating luxury items and he refuses to compromise when it comes to production. Della Valle ensures that each of his 1.5 million pairs of shoes passes through 100 pairs of hands before leaving the company's factories, and Della Valle himself tests prototypes at his Italian headquarters.
